I’m Gia, a Registered Clinical Counsellor committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for individuals navigating chronic health conditions, relationship challenges, trauma, early life experiences of adversity, abuse or neglect, grief, life transitions and work-life imbalance.
My experience supporting individuals in occupational rehabilitation and through developmental trauma has deepened my understanding of how trauma manifests physically and emotionally - influencing emotions, behaviours, and self-perception. My work primarily focuses on supporting individuals processing early life experiences, recovering from workplace injuries, chronic pain, stress-related conditions as well as victims of crime.
I believe that while we often do our best in navigating the ups and downs of life and can pick ourselves up in most cases, sometimes we get stuck and the solutions we devise don’t work. For me, the work that I do today is driven by the small sliver of hope I carried in me during the toughest times of my life, and I aim to extend that hope to you too.
In my sessions, I use an integrative approach to therapy and will draw upon resources from various modalities - CBT, ACT, SFBT, IFS, and Lifespan Integration, tailoring therapy to your unique needs to foster self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.
My personal and professional experiences across multiple countries has given me a unique understanding of the complexities of cultural identity, cross-cultural differences and intergenerational dynamics which I often draw upon in my sessions. I speak English, Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and Japanese, enabling me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
